Can you reverse it if you need to?

Hi:
I'm wondering if many of you could reverse your sleeping schedule if you needed to. Or is this some physiological idiosyncracy?

I've been a night-owl since my late teens, and it would help me if I could reverse the pattern. Can it be done? How?

Would be interested in people's experiences with this.

Just go to sleep an hour later each night and before you know it you'll be an early bird.

And the new schedule can then be sustained? Or are relapses very common?

I read that it's not when you go to sleep that's important. It's the time you get up that really matters. Waking up is the key to falling asleep earlier; you'll be tired for most of the day, but trudge through it and come night, you'll welcome sleep. Now, this sounds easier said than done I know! I have trouble waking myself up at certain times. Apparently the trick is to jump out of bed THE moment you wake up - thus, not allowing yourself to fall asleep. I'll see if I can find the page I read.

It is logical that, if you go to sleep at, let's say, 3 a.m., and wake up at 8, you'll be tired that day.
But there's no guarantee you'll be able to fall asleep at 8 p.m. the same day.
It would take a couple of days of constantly waking up early and making yourself to go to sleep earlier. Been there, done that ^_^
Not to mention circles under my eyes and fresh look of a junky I had ^_^
