| Incognito | Oct 21, 2004 12:34am | | I'm upgrading HD's on a couple of computers and doing some reading and surfing. Are you into programming huh? That's something I never really got into it makes me crazy just looking at code. :) I like troubleshooting and repair and networking. |

| | catch | Oct 21, 2004 1:31am | I think some people are geared for hardware, some for software. Some of the smartest people I know (my sister) go crazy with code. I shudder when someone says "network."
I write ecommerce software, shopping carts, like that.
How do you feel about being a night owl? For me it's a double edge sword. |

| Incognito | Oct 21, 2004 2:33am | I love being a night owl. Everything is so much calmer and more relaxed.
In my opinion people don't know what they're missing at night and thats cool wirh me, it's out little secret.
I can understand what you mean about it being a double edged sword though. you find out just how much of a daylight world we live in.
Most people don't understand nightowls. I got a lot done tonight and I'm not anywhere near tired!
Hows the software writing going? I do agree with you about some folks being geared for programming or networking. You programmers are a different breed. LOL I really love networking and how all of this comes together. People would be shocked if they knew was all has to happen in order for us to interact over the net. |

| | catch | Oct 21, 2004 3:17am | I love being a night owl because that's what my body wants. I love the quiet, the peacefulness, and I'm just awake, so that's cool.
It's hard to do business if you drag yourself out of bed at 2pm. People want to have 7am meetings, lunch meetings.
I've been doing the night things for a few weeks. I'm productive though!
The programming is going well. We thought we would be selling standardized shopping cart software, but all of the customers want customizations. The trick there is that upgrades now have to be done one customer at a time. It multiplies the amount of work I have to do. |

| Incognito | Oct 21, 2004 1:37pm | I hear that. 7am to us is like midnight to them. How do people function at that time of the day?
I worked evening shift. 2-11 for 12 years and then went night shfit 2 years ago. No hustle bustle, no rush hour, no bosses.
And you're right about the body liking it better. I can't get going until mid afternoon and and I'm not at my best until after 10pm.
Wow. one customer at a time? That could take forever. How many customers are we talking about. Can't you write it so they can customize it to their own needs? Create their own profile like I would do for them as a network admin? |

| | catch | Oct 21, 2004 2:00pm | | Software is fickle, it likes hand attention. There will have to be a better solution down the road. One thing I do is to put custom code in a special directory so that there is no overwriting with common code. It's a process in the making |
